The curtain rises on Stephenville Theatre Festival’s 33rd season this week with a special showcase of the company’s performers.
“British Invasion” debuts Friday at Stephenville Arts and Culture Centre.
“This year’s opening will feature some the festival’s best singers – including STF favourite Jennifer Dawson Hobbs, Danny Malena, Evan Smith, Paige Robson Cramer and BroadwayWorld.com winner Mark Allan,” said Keith Pike, the company’s artistic director.
The main stage show will include well-known songs by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Elton John.
“We want the opening to be a celebration of the festival – with a full house,” said Mr. Pike, noting the event is being catered and tickets offered at a special rate.

The following night is the opening of the Tony award winning comedy “God of Carange,” which is also playing on the centre’s main stage.
“It's an exciting show as the audience will be on stage with the actors, like flies on the wall,” said Mr. Pike.
Other shows this season are “Headin’ West,” “Songs for a New World,” and “If You Could Wear My Sneakers” – along with one-off shows featuring Ms. Dawson Hobbs and Mr. Smith.
