Kayla Lasaga is proud of the two People's Choice Awards recently won by the popular television program, "Supernatural."

She is a production assistant for the show, which won awards for "Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy" as well as "Favourite Network TV Drama."

"I've never worked on a show where an award was won while I was physically there, so that was pretty cool," she said.

Ms. Lasaga may not have had the opportunity to go to the People's Choice Awards last month, but there was plenty of excitement around the office after the awards were announced.

"That was pretty cool to be in the office and be getting phone calls, CTV wanted to come in and do interviews and talk to crew members - that was pretty cool," Ms. Lasaga said.  "They set up a place where we could take photos with the awards. I was not expecting that at all."

There was not a lot of partying going on because the production team still had to carry on throughout the workweek, Ms Lasaga said. The staff was informed about the opportunity to have their photo taken with the awards and a wardrobe was provided for employees who wanted to dress up.

"People could actually make themselves look like they were at the awards show," Ms. Lasaga said. "That was fun."

Patty Colombe and Kevin Lasaga are the young woman's parents and they are very proud of their daughter. Last summer her mother had the opportunity to visit her daughter in Vancouver.

"I don't know a lot about the industry, but she did take me to work with her when I visited her last July, so I got to see all the sets they use on ‘Supernatural,'" Ms. Colombe said. "Some people would try to sneak their mom in to see all the actors but she didn't do that with me. She respected their privacy. She's very good at her job. She is very well-respected by the people she works with."

The proud parent describes her daughter as very hard working and very easy-going.

"Supernatural" follows on the heels of such projects as "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" for the production assistant. Her strong work ethic and her ability to get along well with others are some traits that her mother feels has contributed to her steady employment.

Ms. Colombe said her daughter is a very private person and doesn't like people to make a fuss over her.

"I told her, ‘You're going to have to deal with that,' because I can see her doing bigger and bigger and better things as time goes on," Ms. Colombe said.

"We're both so proud of her.  She was given an opportunity and some people are given opportunities and they don't know what to do with it - when she's given an opportunity she really knows how to use it. She's very grateful to everybody who has ever given her a chance."
