A Stephenville man alleged to have made death threats against police and others on the weekend will have his charges dealt with in provincial court in Corner Brook Wednesday morning.
William Joseph Brake, 21, faces 23 charges from March 5, including 11 charges of uttering threats to cause death, as he allegedly threatened several police officers multiple times and another individual.
In addition to the charges of uttering threats to cause death, he faces charges for threatening to burn property of four police officers and a threat to cause serious bodily harm against a civilian. He is also charged with resisting arrest and various count of breaching court orders.
He is said to have breached two separate probation orders, one from Nov. 16, 2009 in this province and the other from Sept. 30, 2010 in Red Lake, Ont.
Mr. Brake appeared in Stephenville Provincial Court via teleconference before Judge Wayne Gorman in Corner Brook as Stephenville Court's Judge Jacqueline Jenkins is away this week.
His appearance in court in Corner Brook is set for Wednesday.
It was about 5:15 a.m. March 5 that police say Brake allegedly contacted RCMP dispatch stating that he was planning to kill several members of the RCMP in the Bay St. George area.
RCMP detachment members responded to his residence in Stephenville and he was taken into custody without injuring police or any member of the public.
Police allege that while in custody he continued threatening the lives of RCMP members, correctional officers and a probation worker.
