Former MHA John Ottenheimer is poised to face off against Liberal incumbent Judy Foote for the riding of Random-Burin-St. George's.
Mr. Ottenheimer is currently serving as the chairman of the board of Nalcor Energy.
He has held the provincial cabinet positions of education, health and intergovernmental affairs under the PC banner, and has served as principal of schools in Stephenville and Lamaline.
Herb Davis, the Conservative candidate for Random-Burin-St.George's in the 2008 federal election, said he is throwing his support behind Mr. Ottenheimer.
"I was looking forward to working with this talented team once again to seek election, but circumstances have changed," said Mr. Davis said in a release.
Mr. Ottenheimer is married to Helen, and has four sons: Fred, Dion, John and Doug, and has four grandchildren. He is a graduate of Memorial University and studied law at the University of Windsor, and completed the Institute for Corporate Directors program at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
