Stephenville man facing sex-related, forcible confinement charges

A 41-year-old Stephenville man is facing charges of forcible confinement and sex-related offences that are alleged to have occurred over a two-week period in the town.

The man was arrested Tuesday and is expected to appear in provincial court today.

The charges include five counts of uttering threats, two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of sexual assault, one count of anal intercourse, and three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Bay St. George RCMP say they launched an investigation into the case Tuesday after the alleged victim came to police. The victim and accused are known to each other.
