The driver of an all-terrain vehicle that hit a tree on a side road in Heatherton, a community located in Bay St. George South, has been arrested and charged with impaired driving and breach of probation.
The accident occurred just after midnight on Sunday with the 24-year-old female passenger and the 26-year-old male driver both taken to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville by ambulance.
The woman, who suffered serious injuries, was transferred to hospital in St John’s, where she was listed in stable condition on Monday afternoon.
The Bay St George RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services West are still actively investigating the accident.
