RCMP investigating rash of vehicle damage, theft incidents

The RCMP in Bay St. George is requesting the assistance of the general public in solving a rash of vehicle damage and thefts from vehicles in the Stephenville area over the past week.

According to a news release, the area of central Stephenville has been subjected to a large number of thefts from vehicles and damage to vehicles.

Last week, nine vehicles were targeted and either damaged or had contents stolen from them.

Between Tuesday evening and today, an unknown person or persons has made entry to some vehicles and stolen contents. Also, other vehicles have had their tires slashed.

A total of 10 vehicles have had tires slashed. In one case, damage was done to the interior of the vehicle and the contents were stolen.

The incidents are being actively investigated and leads are being followed.

No suspects have been arrested at this point.

Anyone who has witnessed any suspicious activity or has any information regarding this matter is asked to contact the Bay St. George RCMP detachment at 1-709-643-2118 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8487.
