Drawings of animal footprints run along the circumference of the circle. Inside are images of eagles, an eagle feather and a dream catcher.
It’s the work of 14-year-old Emily Squire, whose image was recently chosen as winner of the Keeping Safe: Finding the Balance through Knowledge logo contest.
“I know aboriginal people like eagles,” said Emily of her design.
The logo will be used on various promotional and educational materials for the project, which aims to address illegal drug use and highlighting healthy lifestyles for aboriginal youth.
Winning second place in the contest was Michael Bennett, whose design incorporated a dream catcher and a scenic vista.
Third place winner was Robert White, whose logo featured a person’s face and asks the audience to stop the use of drugs.
Crystal Formanger, aboriginal youth liaison officer with the project, said all three logos would be featured on the group’s website.
She said the Keeping Safe youth steering committee members are currently working on vision statements for the project. They will choose the official project statement when they meet again in early January.
