For Joan Pinsent, Rotary has been a real lifeline and her peers honoured her for her contributions with a True Rotarian award at a group luncheon on Thursday.
“To me, being part of Rotary is a great relationship as it provides good camaraderie and I thank all my Rotary friends for this,” she said of receiving the award.
Bob Moffatt, governor for Rotary district 7820, was on hand to make the presentation. He explained the award is presented to a Rotarian who demonstrates through their Rotary club and community life that they live by the organization’s four-way test at all times.
He said the person is humble, does not flatter wealth or boast their own achievements, speaks with sincerity and empathy, and provides “service above self” in word and deed.
“This means an awful lot to me, thank you.” - Rotarian Joan Pinsent
“The True Rotarian is the foundation of Rotary – always there, contributing to Rotary’s goals and objectives unselfishly,” Mr. Moffatt said.
Ms. Pinsent has been with the Stephenville Rotary Club for 11 years and during that time has handled the treasurer’s job. She regularly attends meetings and is community minded, co-chairing the group’s music festival and their auction fundraiser.
She was chair for their food bank committee and has enthusiastically taken on the project for another year.
“This means an awful lot to me, thank you,” she told her fellow members after accepting the award.
