Youth in the Lourdes area have plenty to keep them occupied this summer.
The Communities in Schools’ Summer Bookworms Program has started at Lourdes Library and will be running until Aug. 5. Co-ordinators are Justine Snook and Mallory Drake.
“This program is geared for ages four to 12 years of age,” said Justine. “It consists of a variety of literacy-based camps such as Camp Clue, Scallywags – a Newfoundland and Labrador Cultural Camp, Space, Explore Your World, just to name a few.”
Marina White from West Bay Center recently visited the Bookworms participants. She taught them how to make stained glass window hangers and the children were very excited to learn how to create these items.
“We would like to thank Mrs. White for volunteering her time to show the children how to make this spectacular craft artwork,” said Justine.
She noted community members interested in sharing their talents with the group can call the Lourdes Library at 642-5388.
