The motoring public is being reminded to slow down for construction zones along the province's roads and highways.
There are numerous construction sites throughout the province this summer, with posted signs clearly marking them as construction zones and show changes of speed limits.
Bay St George RCMP have recently received complaints of speeding vehicles through a construction zone located on the Trans Canada Highway near the Jeffries turnoff. This is posted as a 50 km/hr zone.
The police force reminds the public this is a work area and the decrease in the speed limit is in place to protect workers in this area.
Increased police patrols in construction zones in the coming weeks will aim to address this concern.
Fines under the Highway Traffic Act in Newfoundland and Labrador are significantly increased for persons caught speeding in posted construction zones.
