A German youth choir is touring across the province and will be performing at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port au Port West this Sunday, July 31, at 3 p.m.
The Munich Youth Choir is made up of 30 boys and girls, who are accompanied by five chaperones.
This non-profit group’s mission is the fostering of the musical talent through their local, national and international touring.
They’re coming to Newfoundland and Labrador as part of their tour, “Saltwater Joys,” which includes classical and contemporary music from various eras, in multiple languages and styles.
Danny McCann is chair of the Gravels Development Group, which operates Our Lady of Mercy. He said funds raised at the show will be used for the upkeep of the church.
“Funds raised go towards the wages for the workers replacing the shingles on one side of the (church) roof,” said Mr. McCann.
“We can only afford to do one side at a time and this is the first side we’re doing.”
Show tickets are available at Debbie’s Video Shoppe in Stephenville or by calling Mr. McCann at 648-2745 or 649-7593. Tickets also available at the door.
