The Seventh Annual Ashley Skinner Memorial Golf Tournament and Fundraiser was a successful venture again this year.

The event had 28 teams participating and raised just over $3,900 for the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation. This brings the grand total for the seven years to an impressive $23,900.

As for the tournament itself, for the third straight year there was two-way tie following the completion of the two nine-hole rounds. This set up an exciting one-hole playoff between the foursomes of Dave King, Cameron Pike, Todd Wells and Mike Gale and Tyrone McIsaac, Ashley Hynes, Paul Ploughman and Andy McIsaac.

This was the third consecutive year that McIsaac’s crew found themselves in a playoff and for second time in a row they came out on the losing end as King’s foursome pulled out the victory on the first sudden-death playoff hole.

The top ladies team was a repeat winner this year, with Sue Young’s foursome – which included Lisa Lainey, Cavelle White and Sarah Gaudon – took that honour again.

Tournament organizers were once again very pleased with the turnout and the amount of money that this events sponsors and supporters helped raise for its charity.

They wanted to thank the many businesses and individuals for their continued support, including several special people who have gone above and beyond over the past seven years – Donny Gale, Art Barry, Sue Young and Donna Callahan.

They would also like to thank the many loyal participants and the generous individuals who made monetary donations. Last and most importantly the organizing committee would like to thank the entire Skinner and O’Quinn families for continually allowing them too commemorate Ashley’s life with this event.
