The Port au Port Orioles are the champs of the 23rd Annual Reggie Miner Memorial SloPitch Softball Tournament.

They scored the top spot with an 8-7 win over the Flat Bay Flyers in the championship game.

A total of 10 teams competed in the tournament, which was held in Stephenville July 23 and 24. Besides the Orioles and Flyers, there were the Coors Lite Rockies, Misty Moo Mo, Bench Warmers, Hard 2 Believe, Plastard Penguins, Diamondbacks, McHugh’s Bar and Rockers.

Proceeds from the tournament went to the Bay St. George Special Olympics.

Reggie Miner was a well-known softball coach from the Bay St. George area and a softball tournament has been held in his memory since his passing.
