A group of seniors from Port au Port West have found a way to get in shape while maintaining an active social life.
Members of the town's Seniors' Leisure Club have been regularly meeting at the Regional Aquatic Centre in Stephenville to participate in water-fitness aerobic classes.
The project is called "Seniors on the Go." Classes started in October and ran until December. They will pick up again in the new year.
"We had an average of 30 people ranging in age from 50 years old to 79 years," said Marina Simon, club member and project co-ordinator.
"Everyone enjoyed the classes under the direction of Mr. Tim Alexander. We are hoping for a good attendance again in January."
Registration is free for the seniors thanks to the provincial government's Healthy Aging Seniors' Wellness Grant Program. For more information, call 648-2707 or 644-2534.
