Caps beat Jets for Veitch trophy

Joey Trenholm scored six goals as the St. John’s Hickman Automotive Group Caps dumped the host Stephenville Junior Jets 15-2 in the final game of the 2013 Veitch Memorial Junior B hockey championships on April 6.

Matthew Coughlan, Justin Walsh and Alex Doyle scored two goals apiece for the Caps, who were undefeated in the three-team tournament what also featured Central/West Junior Hockey League champions Bishop’s Falls Express.

Josh Thornhill, Thomas Murphy and Kyle McGuirk also scored for the St. John’s team.

Josh White and Garrett Bennett scored for the Jets. Goalie Steven Hancock was honoured as play of the game for the team.
