A family in Mattis Point is anxiously awaiting word on the safety of a daughter, sister and friend who has been reported missing in Saskatchewan.
Carol Nora King, 40, was reported missing by her family on Aug. 7.
A call to the King family Wednesday was returned by Carol's sister-in-law, Tammy King.
Tammy expressed the family's deep concern for Carol's safety and their wish to have her back.
"They're devastated. It's been a long three days, going on four days now. They are just exhausting what efforts they have ... to try to find an answer of what's happened to her," Tammy said.
"Her parents are ex-hausted, devastated to say the least, just not themselves at all," she added.
Ms. King, originally from Mattis Point, works in the construction industry.
She moved to the small rural Saskatchewan community of Herschel about two years ago. She lives alone in a farmhouse in that community.
The family first became concerned after Carol didn't call anyone Saturday night.
That's hardly a concern for most people, but it is very unusual for Carol, Tammy said.
"It would be out of character completely for her not to phone her family. They're very close," she said.
A call to RCMP in Rosetown, the nearest town to Herschel, was not returned as of Wednesday.
Media in Saskatchewan have been widely reporting on Carol's disappearance and asking anyone with information to call local RCMP at 306-882-5700 or Crimestoppers.
Police in that province are reportedly looking for Carol's car, a grey, 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, with Saskatchewan licence plate 560 GZX.
Family reports on Facebook indicated an RCMP airplane had been tasked with flying over Carol's likeliest route for her Saturday appointments. There was no word by press time as to their findings.
The last time anyone spoke with Carol was when her parents, Carl and Yvonne King, spoke to her at about 3:30 on Saturday. Carol had two appointments set for after that call. She did not reach either of them.
Family and friends has been trying to contact her but her phone has been going to voicemail, meaning it's been turned off.
No one has had any contact with Carol since that phone call on Saturday.
Far from sitting idle, Carol's family has been frantically contacting local media and using Facebook to spread the word about her.
Her sister Brenda has travelled from Nova Scotia to Rosetown in order to help with the search. Brenda has been active online, leaving messages on the Facebook group called "Have You Seen Carol King?"
"Sissy my dear sweet sissy, I don't know where you are but I'm trying to find you," wrote Brenda on Wednesday.
"Please please send me a sign, I don't know what I would do without you in my life so please don't let me find out."
The family is especially worried because they say Carol had been having a troubled personal life lately.
"So we're very concerned right now for her safety and just hoping that anyone has some kind of clue as to what happened to her, where she could be," Tammy said.
A $10,000 reward has been posted for Carol's safe return.
The family is asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact Saskatchewan RCMP.
